Pine flashed on monday the 6th, so it is full. We got stuck behind a group of 9, with lots of kids, none of whom had helmets or wetsuits, and who were freezing. Our group in 3/3's and 4/3's got cold just standing around waiting. The 8 am start is a good idea, most summer trips are going to run into other, slower groups, so you will not always be able to keep moving non stop.

Though most potholes were dry, there were some with a little water. Obviously less of a price of admission than Cable, the pothole dance around was also lots more entertaining, though with little/no water, with significant penalty points for failure. Bring your dancing shoes.

A hot dry slog in the heat, huge potholes, but no challenge, and not much fun without water, won't go again unless its full. Finally hit one pothole with water towards the end of the second section, but it wasn't Shanes bathtub, it was more like a sternum deep cesspool.

Clean, dry, almost antiseptic, thought IT could have its neighbors name- Ho Hum. The crack exit made the day- if you stay on the wall I'd go with Toms 5.7, a little thin high, but if you use the back wall there, Shanes 5.4 rules. Stay with the fence line for Toms 2 car exit point on the road, Shanes going back to the drop in spur is a long hot sandy meander, even with a GPS.

I would repeat Steves headlamp comment for emphasis. Have done Larry a few times, but there is a lot of new high debris in the tight section that made it almost black down on the deck, we tweaked an ankle sliding down to the deck because the slider didn't even see it coming.

read a TR from the weekend before, it said "less than knee deep". one pool hit my belly button, at my 6'1", not exactly knee deep. Last three raps are fairly challenging downclimbs, even when dry. replaced a 10 ft 9/16 webbing and the rusty 1/4 quick link that had cut 1/3 of the way thru the webbing, at the little ten foot top of the scree drop, also downclimbable on the right LDC, but a bit of a reach, rap the drop.

dry and clean. easy stem over "keeper". we dropped a few people into the keeper just to play, the 2 women got out with a partner assist, the 2 guys each climbed out alone.
