Battle Creek Falls
Last Candition: June 7, 2011
Crowded with hikers as usual but short approach makes it a nice place to give people practice rappelling. Waterfall flow is lower than expected for the heavy snow pack we have, but loud enough to make communication between top and bottom occasionally difficult. Wasn't warm enough out to rappel thru falls. Anchors are in good shape, just be careful not to knock rocks onto the heads of hikers at the base of the Falls
Easy approach, anchors were fine (3 bolts) and COLD water. No wet suit needed in triple digits.
Anchors in good shape, the hanger on the waterfall is a bit loose, but holding. Had a kid drop huge rocks on us, we gave him a stern lecture and he seem to get the idea.
Water cold, as usual.
Taught some people how to rappel who were observing. Also per usual. High traffic, lots of dogs, bikes, scouts, kids, strollers. Very dusty on ledge.
Easy approach, easy return hike (5mins) but water was SO COLD! We did in 3mm longs, and it was sufficient. So fun though.
