We ascended the canyon up to the first side drainage and exited there. There was only 1 pool of water that was 1' deep and 15' long. Tre kwan and Mark Burnham took the ground level for all but 40' of canyon. The Gnome, Diener, and I stayed high on the nice ledges for the majority of the time after the cathedral.

Be advised that conditions of the streambed can significantly alter the energy required by the approach. It's currently mostly deep sand which is very draining. I would only recommend Brimstone to those wanting a semi-technical experience (maneuvering skills) and have lots of energy left over after PAB/Spooky. Not suitable for young children or anyone low on energy or ability.

The Beast (middle Brimstone) currently has a 100-150 foot swim down a very narrow hallway, right at the end of the slot. If you were coming down from the top, then didn't fit through the swimming section, your life would be in danger. Stemming over the swimmer is not possible. Dragging a wetsuit through the canyon would be next to impossible. Scouting the bottom before entering from the top is recommended.

Even though it was brutally challenging, my wife and I had a great time. She took the low route, I took the high route. It is beautiful in there, certainly a canyon that we will do again.

It took us 5h 42m car-to-car moving at an leisurely pace. We were in the slot for about 2-2.5 hours. The '3' rating is only because of the swimmer at the end.
