Fry
Last Candition: June 2, 2011
Good summer canyon. One belly deep pool in the Frylet/Upper Slot and one nice and cold swim in the lower narrows. No wetsuit needed on this hot day.
Nice new bolts and webbing in place at the rappel. Current conditions match the Road Trip Ryan beta (pot hole of water near the beginning, but not a swimmer. Swimmer after the downclimb). Water was actually pretty clean. Group of 4 took 3 hours.
Fry never disappoints. Easy access, fun short hike. One very short swimmer only at the downclimb after the rap. A bit of wading before the bridge. No wetsuits needed.
Nice & wet because of Saturday rains. Wet suits required. One swimmer. Two sections of narrows separated by a long canyon walk of over a mile. First section of narrows under the highway bridge is beautifully colored & sculpted rock. We went too high on the exit route so had to climb a little. Later saw that the trail stays lower and follows around a broad shelf of rock.
Flowing!!! Shorty wetsuit or top recommended.... though long hiking stretch between narrows. Anchors in good shape. Fyi: white canyon flowing big time. Ruins very hard to climb to. Moki steps come in from above RDC.

Flowing today after a big storm last night. Warm and awesome.
Made the mistake of going through without wetsuits. Even though it was short, it was a long swim in very cold water. Too hot to walk with wetsuits, too cold to swim without them. I would avoid for now!
Water was clean and plentiful in the upper and lower narrows. Water in the lower narrows was very cold. Happy to have a wetsuit.
Canyon was muddy but the water after the rap is cool and doesn't have much debris. Overall a short fun trip.
Canyon is full, swimmers in all the regular locations. Webbing on Anchors is new with ring. There has been too much wind so there has been no bug problem.
