Explored from Rock Canyon to Labyrinth Falls. This is some mighty fine river walking. Beautiful red walls and clear water with plenty of optional swimming. Fresh springs, green foliage, huge cottonwood trees, small creatures, old Indian sites, and soaring sandstone walls make this a must for any adventurer. River was flowing at 38cfs which seemed perfect.

Came in from French Canyon today. No signs of other traffic yet this year. East fork running high, but very manageable. Cold, bring some neo socks or maybe even some dry pants if you are looking to spend some time down there.

Parunuweap was amazing. Came in from Carmel Junction. Spent 2 nights. Explored mineral gulch (nice narrows section) and a few other side canyons. The only big obstacle was the waterfall/boulder described in many trip reports. The water was high enough that it did not look doable with just webbing. However, if you face upstream and walk 50 feet there is a short up climb and then a down climb through a small cave to get around it. No big deal, easy to find and fun. Stopped at the labyrinth waterfall then went out checkerboard mesa escape route route. It took longer than expected as the trail is pretty spotty. Got caught in a storm and waited it out. Hiked to the top of checkerboard canyon at which point it was totally dark. Climbed down and out in the dark which was a little trick but doable. First car on the road stopped and picked us up to take us back to the car. Had a blast...
