Almost no water. One of the best canyons on earth. Follow GPS closely on approach. Must stem up about as high as possible to get potshots across the pit of despair.

Did the approach from Halls Creek Bay. We took a small flat bottomed boat as far up as we could go up Halls Creek. If you follow Halls Creek up there is a lot less bushwhacking but be careful of the quick sand. We went in at night and had some horrendous bushwaking through sticker bushes, reeds and Tamarisk. On the way back to the boat we followed Halls Creek most of the way out which was a lot easier and quicker until we hit quicksand about .1 miles from the boat. The quicksand was waist deep ! We have never done Poe before but after seeing some pictures from other trips the canyon appears to be in very low water conditions. There are still some pools with some very cold water. I wore a 4/3 with a vest and neoprene cap and was reasonably warm. We camped about .6 miles from the point you leave the creek to start the approach. We left camp at 4:30 AM and got to the first rappel around 7 AM. The Canyon definitely lives up to its hype.
