This is a favorite canyon of mine in this area. It has good variety to it; no one obstacle or element dominates this canyon. Newer and experienced canyoneers should both enjoy it. That said, all your exit options (up or down stream and sneak exit) are terrible in their own ways. If there were better exit options, this canyon would deservedly get a lot more traffic.

DO NOT FOLLOW GOOGLE MAPS to "Wilbur Trailhead." It will take you to the opposite side of the canyon than the beta-suggested parking spot. We decided to rappel into it anyway to cross and a long, sad evening ensued where we never reached the canyon because we had to turn back to stop our emergency contact from calling SAR. The next day when we successfully finished it we ran into another group who had also made that mistake and failed to do the canyon their first attempt.

Real 4WD is necessary to reach the parking spot, so plan to walk down the road if you don't have it.

I love this canyon. It's beautiful and green with sculpted walls. The exit down Clear Creek is gorgeous and fun. The water is crystal clear and teeming with crawdads and fish. The optional sneak exit up a crack in the side of the canyon was ladder-steep with a mix of loose soil and pine needles. No footing was secure. I might opt to do the longer way, especially since the creek was so fun.
